Who We Are

Our Bodies Ourselves (OBOS) is an educational, activist initiative supporting the health and sexuality of women and gender-expansive people. For over a half-century since the publication of our landmark book, "Our Bodies, Ourselves," OBOS has grown into an intersectional and global feminist force. We carefully develop and curate trustworthy, evidence-based resources and compelling personal stories, all framed by incisive feminist analysis on our freely accessible website. Alongside this trove of information, we advocate for sexual and health equity and reproductive justice. We are located at the Center for Women's Health & Human Rights, Suffolk University, Boston.

Our work is powered by scores of expert volunteers, staff, and consultants, working together to fulfill our mission. Many of the staff, volunteers, and founders of the original Our Bodies Ourselves continue to work with us.

Our Bodies Ourselves advances feminist health justice by providing women and gender-expansive people around the world with accessible, accurate, and inclusive resources on health and sexuality throughout our lives. Since 1970, we have advocated effectively for ourselves and our communities by promoting evidence-based information and sharing what we know from our own experiences. Our approach is both woman-centered and trans-inclusive, and highlights how systems of inequalities affect our health and our lives.

Our Bodies Ourselves envisions a feminist world where all of us, especially women and gender-expansive people, thrive free of oppression in sustainable, caring communities. In our world, we have the knowledge, autonomy, collective resources, and systems of support to fully exercise our human rights. We all have the power to know and enjoy our bodies, to express our sexualities, and to be as mentally, physically, and socially healthy as possible throughout our lives.
