queer

People who consider themselves queer are likely to be non-heterosexual and/or non-cisgender. LGBTQIA+ people may identify with the word queer especially if they see themselves as outsiders or radicals in the “straight” world of sex and gender. Queer can also suggest being outside of the norm—as in kinky or poly, or that sexuality and gender doesn’t fit neatly into either/or identities, like male or female, gay or straight.
