long acting reversible contraception (LARC)

Long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) is the most effective form of reversible birth control as they do not require ongoing effort on the part of the user for long-term pregnancy prevention. They can be subject to coercive use, however, because the user needs a cooperative health care provider to remove them. The two types of LARCs are the Intra-Uterine Device (IUD) and the subdermal hormonal birth control implant.
