lubricant
Vaginal lubrication is naturally produced by the body during sexual excitement and arousal; artificial lubricant can also be added to enhance sexual pleasure and function. Natural vaginal lubricant has countless slang terms (e.g., getting wet), and may also be referred to as vaginal secretions, cervical fluid, vaginal discharge, or vaginal fluid. Vaginas vary in how much lubrication they produce; people vary in the amount of lubrication we desire for pleasurable sexual activity — these variations are totally normal. Artificial lubricants (which may be made of natural or manufactured ingredients) can be used to increase sexual pleasure whether we’re having sex with another person or masturbating on our own. Lubricants are applied during or right before sexual activity, while vaginal moisturizers are used on a regular basis, such as every few days, to heal and thicken the vaginal tissues and increase overall moisture.
