diet culture
Diet culture tells us that being thin equals beauty and health, and being fat equals ugliness and illness. Dieting to lose weight, or maintain a low weight, are seen as required to be and be viewed as good, worthy, respectable people. Diet culture is connected to fatphobia, and leads to self-disdain, as well as huge wastes of time, money, and energy in the never ending quest for thinness.
