coercion and control
Coercion and control, or coercive control, describe the relationship dynamic that promotes and normalizes assault, threats, humiliation, intimidation, other forms of harm, and even murder. Coercive control is when someone (typically male in a heterosexual relationship) repeatedly hurts, scares, and isolates their (typically female) partner to control and dominate them. It is extremely dangerous and extremely widespread.
