In Control: Our Stories, Our Lives, Our Birth Control

Contraception is a reproductive right that helps to ensure our bodily autonomy and freedom. However, too many face barriers to accessing it.

In these stories, people discuss their experiences with contraception. They also share the consequences of being unable to access it. The narrators address what happens when we can’t afford contraception, insurance won’t cover it, or a religious employer won’t pay for it. They also talk about the different reasons they sought contraception -- how they use contraception to affirm gender identity, to treat heavy and painful periods, and to prevent pregnancy.

Even though I work for a very progressive employer and have a very good insurance plan, I still had a lot of difficulty accessing birth control. Things are bound to be way harder for people who have additional obstacles put in their way.
