Isabel Allende on Aging, Motherhood, and More
In this episode of the "Wiser Than Me" podcast, actress and comedian Julia Louis-Dreyfus speaks with Chilean-American novelist, feminist, and philanthropist Isabel Allende. Allende talks about living a good and healthy life with purpose at the age of 80.
She reflects on the freedom that comes with aging, and the importance of preparing for one's later years. She addresses how she came to understand herself as a feminist as well as motherhood, her relationships with her parents and her children and grandchildren, her current sex life, death and dying, and her approach to writing fiction.
I belong to the transition generation. We were the bridge between my mother’s values and the way she was brought up and the new wave of young feminists that were changing the world. But we were in between because we were raised like our mothers, but we had to act like our daughters.
