Content Expert, Growing Older
Toni Calasanti (she/her), PhD, is a professor of sociology at Virginia Tech, where she is also a faculty affiliate of the Center for Gerontology. A 2020 Fulbright Canada research chair in aging & society at McMaster University, her national and international research on the intersections of age, gender, and social inequalities has examined ageism; gender and aging bodies; work and retirement in later life; and the impact of gender and sexual orientation on older adults’ carework for partners and spouses with dementia.
Ageism impacts all of us, regardless of how old we are now. It is my passion to help us all understand ageism and the realities about growing older in order to improve the quality of life for us all.
