Mariya Patwa is medical resident at the University of Illinois Chicago, specializing in internal medicine and pediatrics.

As an undergraduate student at Wellesley College she partook in the Madeleine Albright Institute for Global Affairs and conducted research at the Wellesley Centers for Women. She completed a public health degree focusing on international health systems and maternal and child health at the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University.

While working at the Cambridge Health Alliance, prior to medical school, she joined the board of Our Bodies Ourselves. She continued to work with the board of OBOS throughout medical school at the Tufts University School of Medicine, which has informed and shaped her clinical interests, research, and advocacy.

Now, as a medical resident she is training to provide evidence-based care and to support people with health care decisions and transitions across their lifespan in a difficult to navigate health care system.
