Aisha Chaudhri
Aisha Chaudhri (eye-shuh cho-dhree, no pronouns) has been a social justice activist for over 25 years and has been working directly on reproductive justice (RJ) issues for over 17 years.
Currently, Aisha is the executive co-director at ICAH (the Illinois Caucus for Adolescent Health), an RJ organization centering the leadership and bodily autonomy of Black and Brown youth, specifically trans and gender nonconforming youth.
Aisha was also a steering committee member of the American Society for Emergency Contraception (ASEC) and an advisor to the Emergency Contraception for Every Campus (EC4EC) project.
Previously, Aisha led the the Contraceptive Justice Project and Coalition, a community-driven contraceptive access project rooted in the RJ framework, and RJ-centered legislative and administrative policy advocacy. Aisha worked with immigrant survivors of gender-based violence at a domestic violence shelter, and created training programs on how to provide trauma-responsive social services and health care, and how to be an adult accomplice to youth.
Aisha’s commitment to anti-oppression work stays rooted in the experiences of marginalized communities, including Aisha’s own queer, gender nonconforming, disabled, femme, Punjabi, immigrant, and Muslim identities.
Accurate information about our bodies and minds is core to achieving bodily autonomy. It can provide us with the tools to disrupt oppressive behaviors, dismantle oppressive systems, and heal for ourselves and our communities.
