We may also we need to affirm ourselves at times. The search for gender-affirming care can take a long time. Celebrating every milestone allows us to reflect on the progress we are making.

While pursuing gender-affirming care, we should also seek a full understanding of our bodies and our legal rights. Use hormonal treatments as prescribed and in consultation with a doctor. Be aware that hormone therapy can affect fertility. If we desire to have biological children, it's good to speak to a doctor about preserving our fertility.

Gender-affirming care includes both medical and non-medical interventions that affirm a person’s gender identity through surgical procedures, hormone therapy, counseling support, as well as through social and legal transitions.
