March 2024 Newsletter: Celebrating Women's History Month
This newsletter opens with a note from OBOS Today’s program director Laura Prieto. She discusses the importance of feminist history in questioning sexism, oppression, and the patriarchy. OBOS Today is deeply rooted to our history and remains committed to connecting people to information, activism, and community.
The issue features a podcast recounting the history of Black midwifery. Kiki Zeldes speaks about her work with OBOS since 1997. She played a key role in ushering OBOS into the internet era, where reliable women’s health information is critical. Historian Lara Freidenfelds shares her personal experience with pregnancy loss and her book "The Myth of the Perfect Pregnancy: A History of Miscarriage in America."
The issue features three events: a community conversation about the history of OBOS, a panel about gender equality and reproductive rights post Dobbs, and a future screening of “Fight Like Hell: The Activist Life of Mother Jones.”
