Sexual violence occurs when a perpetrator forces, coerces, or manipulates another person into sexual activity without that person’s consent. Sexual violence includes rape, sexual assault, incest, sexual exploitation, and watching or recording someone in a sexual act without their knowledge. While sexual violence is usually illegal, people (primarily men) perpetrate sexual violence across the world at high rates, especially against women, girls, and gender-expansive people.
