Our society is built on inequities, or unfair differences in how people are treated, based on race, gender, and age. An equity framework for aging requires first acknowledging that older people have experienced lifelong inequities which are compounded by ageism. Economic inequities manifest in institutional practices in the workplace, in health care, in housing, in the economics of growing older, and more. This section includes articles that provide an analysis of these inequities and how they can be addressed, including through legal protections.
