By Amy Agigian —

AB describes how her life changed after starting to take birth control to offset the consequences of her period.

Transcript:

AB: When I was on the pill, then I was able to predict, like, I remember my period would start every Wednesday, like, every fourth Wednesday, and I remember just the relief that would come from just not, like, walking around and being like, “I could be bleeding right now through my pants!” And just that constant anxiety and mental load that would take on me was, like, just, I didn’t realize that a weight had been lifted off my shoulders—or I didn’t realize how heavily it weighed on me— until I was able to have that lifted off me and have that predictability, um, really brought a lot of, a lot less stress to my life.
