This article addresses how trans women relate to menopause is often conceptualized and the importance of trans inclusive health care. For example, when limiting or stopping estrogen, some transgender women experience hot flashes and other symptoms that are similar to those that cis women experience during perimenopause and menopause:

“As transgender women age, some choose to lower their estrogen dose or possibly stop HRT completely. This can trigger reactions similar to menopause symptoms, but can be mitigated if they’re still producing endogenous testosterone via their organs present at birth.”

The demonstrated need for trans inclusive health care is stressed throughout.
