August 1st through 7th, 2012 marks the 20th anniversary [World Breastfeeding Week](http://worldbreastfeedingweek.org/), an international event intended to promote breastfeeding around the world.  
  
The observance is headed by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action, along with [UNICEF](http://www.unicef.org/media/media_65461.html) and the [World Health Organization](http://www.who.int/mediacentre/events/annual/world_breastfeeding_week/en/index.html).
